Roberta’s, the Bushwick pizza parlor beloved by elder millennials, will open a new location in the spring of 2020—their first full-service location in Manhattan—this time complete with a “Roberta’s Wine Bar.”

As originally reported by Commercial Observer’s Nicolas Rizzi, the new Roberta’s has signed a 15-year lease at 15 Avenue A in the East Village. While the new space, all 1,300 square feet of it, will be Roberta’s first proper location in Manhattan, it’s far from their first venture outside of Brooklyn. Originally a single Bushwick restaurant started in 2008, Roberta’s has since expanded to include an additional Brooklyn location (this time in Williamsburg), a Midtown food hall location and a second full-service Los Angeles location. If that weren’t enough, the group recently announced that it will have posts in two upcoming Chicago food halls.

And although the new wine menu has yet to be unveiled, Roberta’s dedication to natural wine since 2008 has been so steadfast that many credit the restaurant with helping popularizing it outside of a wine bar context not just in New York, but across the U.S.

Roberta’s excellent and ever-evolving natural wine list currently serves Moussamoussettes and De Moor blends by the glass, alongside bottle list deep cuts and a dozen different magnum options, from the likes of Domaine Tempier’s “La Miqoua” Bandol (Provence, France) and Les Bottes Rouge’s “Gibus” Trousseau (Arbois, France).

There’s no shortage of natural wine in the East Village, but when Roberta’s opens the scene will get that much stronger.
